Weekend play at the Limestone City Cup
It was the Greater Kingston AAA Limestone City Cup this weekend. Games started off Friday with the Minor PeeWees facing the Quinte Red Devils in what would be a battle to the end. A solid performance from the team saw the game in a 3-3 tie with only 20 seconds left when Quinte had a late game goal to win 4-3. The team worked hard and came from behind to make this a nail bitter right to the end. Friday afternoon was a touch game against Seaway Valley Rapids, the boys would find themselves against another tough matchup, loosing in a 6-3 score.
Saturday the boys would face the Cumberland Jr. Grads, and the Rochester Monarchs. With an uphill climb and a must two game win ahead of them, the team would hit the ice Saturday winning over the Jr. Grads 5-2 and a win over the Monarchs 7-2. Solid pressure both games, and great goaltending would see the boys through to the semi-final game Sunday morning against the Red Devils.
Sunday mornings Semi Finals would be held at Invista, with a repeat matchup against Quinte. It was a fast pace game, the boys worked hard, but could not find the net against the Devils. The game would end in a 3-0 loss ending the weekend for the boys.
Overall solid weekend of hockey for the team. "Well Done Boys"
