Series Goes the Distance but Home Ice Wins Out
In a back and forth series, the GK Frontenac Peewee’s pushed it to game 5, but home ice advantage proved to be too much as the hometown Whitby Wildcats took the OMHA series with a 3-2 edge in games this past weekend.

Game 1…The playoff experienced Wildcats had the advantage in game one as the locals were caught on their heels a bit and fell 8-3 in Whitby. Wyatt Ottenhof, Boden White and Ben Campeau were the goal scorers with Lane Morency 2, Grayson Ebrahim, Campeau and Ottenhof picked up the helpers. Brady Spry took the loss in net. Game 2…The boys were refocused for game 2 back home and got on the board 15 seconds in and never looked back taking down the Wildcats 4-2 to even up the series. Blake Aylesworth, Ben Albright, Campeau and Ebrahim found the net with the apples going to Jacob McLellan 2, Andrew Botting, Morency, White, Albright, Ottenhof and Aylesworth. Nolan Lalonde put one up in the win column between the steel. Game 3…Unfortunately, the scheduling forced the boys to travel to Whitby on a weeknight and the bus legs showed as the 04’s got down by three in the first and couldn’t climb back falling 5-3 to the Wildcats. Campeau, Ebrahim and Morency bulged the twine from Payton Clarke and Botting while Lalonde took the loss. Game 4…This past Saturday back at the Cat, the boys put together a spirited effort in front of a big home crowd to even up the series for a second time with a 4-1 win. Brady Spry was back in net for this one with Ottenhof, White, Morency and Ebrahim supplying the offense. Campeau 2, Botting, Morency, Ebrahim, Ottenhof and White chipped with the helpers. Game 5…The deciding game went back to Whitby for a Sunday afternoon tilt that had both teams coming out strong  and going to the flood knotted at one a piece. The third period had Whitby go up 2-1 on a strange one about the midway mark. Kingston thought they had tied it up again only to see it waved off with a high sticking call but kept pressing only to give up an ill-timed breakaway to fall 3-1 and soon to be followed with the empty netter for the 4-1 loss. Spry battled in net while Campeau tallied the only marker from Morency. Although the team is quite disappointed at the moment, they have much to be proud of and now will continue to battle for the ETA Championship as they are right back at it next weekend with a semi-final round robin series with Peterborough and Clarington.
