Ottawa Senators September AAA Shootout Champs
The 04 Fronts got the
season off and running in the right direction by bringing home the title from
the Ottawa Sens AAA Shootout this past weekend by beating the York Simcoe
Express 3-1 in the championship final Sunday afternoon.
The boys got off to a rough start in the round robin by outplaying, but falling short against the hometown Sens 2-0 (empty net goal) Friday afternoon. In the evening matchup, the 04’s broke open the game in the second by scoring 4 and shutting out the Syracuse Nationals the rest of the way for the 4-0 win. Next up on Saturday was a chippy contest with the Grey Bruce Highlanders that had the Fronts come out on top 4-1. The Saturday nightcap got going late, but the boys persevered and got an early 2-1 lead and then piled on a couple more in the third to outlast the Upper Canada Cyclones 4-1. Sunday mornings semi-final was a rematch of game 1 versus the hometown Sens and the result ended much differently as the Fronts took this one 3-0 setting the table for the tourney win over the Express. The Minor Bantams hit the road next Saturday for their league opener in what is sure to be a hard-hitting contest with York Simcoe trying to avenge their tourney loss.
