With a lot on the line, the
2004 Frontenacs headed into a three game weekend needing a good run at a
weekend sweep. Game one at home Friday night had the Fronts hosting the
Peterborough Petes where the locals scored first in the second period only to
have the Petes tie it up five minutes later.
Fortunately, the home towners scored early in the third and held on to take the 2-1 victory to start off the weekend on the right track. Saturday in Oshawa had the Fronts taking on the Generals who happen to be tied with the 04’s in the standings. The black n’ yellow came out of the first period tied at one but went on to score three unanswered goals in the second and another in the third to take the all-important match up with a 5-2 triumph. Now with two wins under their belt, the Frontenacs hit the road again Sunday to Peterborough for the back end of the home and home with the Petes. Unfortunately, the squad was down four regulars not in the lineup which was not ideal for the third game in three days. The boys came out hard in the first but could not get one by the Petes goaltender which lead them to the second and third which was all the Petes as the Fronts dropped the contest by a score of 6-1. The Kingston squad continues their push for the playoffs this weekend by hosting the Wolves from Central Ontario at the Invista Saturday at 5:30pm.
