Queens Partnership Announcement
Submitted By Public Relations on Friday, February 22, 2019
The Executive of the Greater Kingston Hockey Association is excited to announce that we have entered into a partnership with Queen’s University Athletics and Recreation.  This partnership marks a new beginning for the Greater Kingston AAA Hockey Association and effective for the 2019-20 season, the pinnacle of minor hockey in the Greater Kingston region will re-brand as the Greater Kingston Junior Gaels.  Over the last 6 month’s the executive of GKHA has been working with Queen’s University officials to reach this agreement and feel this is a wonderful opportunity for our members and the Greater Kingston Hockey region that forms our boundaries.

Our organization has a goal for the positive development of our players, both on and off the ice.  This partnership with a prestigious Canadian University will greatly aid and benefit our players in achieving these goals, today and for the future.  A small listing of the great benefits, GK Jr. Gaels players and families will receive are:

-The Queens Men’s Varsity Hockey Coaching staff and players will provide mentorship, support and learning opportunities to our coaches and players.

- Discounts for Queens Summer Camps and Jr Gaels clothing at the Q-Shop.

-Free admission to Varsity Gaels sporting events for the player and one parent.

-Weekly family drop in activities at the Queens ARC, free of charge to GK Jr Gaels.

“This is an exciting time for hockey in Kingston.  There is lots of positive energy already generating from this new partnership and we have just started.  We encourage the community to watch our website for more news to come and watch our up coming season in the new Jr Gaels colors”, says GKHA President Scott Trueman.

We will remain an independent, not-for profit organization run entirely by a large network of hard working and dedicated volunteers and Board members.
