Showcase Day Recap – Food Drive Nets 1694lbs of Donations

The annual Showcase day for GKHA Jr Gaels was celebrated this past Saturday and was a big success.  Our teams posted a great overall result of 5 Wins and 1 Tie against 2 losses.  All teams battled hard, had fun and enjoyed the day.  The Board and members of the GKHA would like to sincerely thank the visiting teams who all stepped up and provided great support to our Annual Partners In Mission Foodbank drive.

We crashed the net and smashed our inaugural donation total of 1024lbs in 2018 and weighed in a total of 1694lbs of food donations for 2019.  We will have strong test to surpass this in 2020.

Visiting organizations who participated and are extended this thanks to are:

  • Ajax-Pickering Raiders Minor Atom
  • Central Ontario Wolves Atom
  • Oshawa Generals (Minor Peewee, Peewee, Minor Bantam and Minor Midget)
  • Markham Waxers Bantam
  • Clarington Toros Midget

The efforts of these communities show the good citizenship that is always ever present in the Hockey World.  We also wish to extend thanks to Maya Sousa and AJ Penney, who lent their lovely voices and sang the National anthem before games.  Post games, all of our teams held a meet and greet social where Jr Gaels players extended their thanks to coaches, parents, siblings and other family who all do so much to support them on and off the ice.

Good luck to all teams over the Fall and Winter.
