Punch Their Ticket to the Playoffs
The Major Peewee Frontenacs
secured their participation in the OMHA Playoffs this past weekend without
playing a game. With an Oshawa loss on Thursday evening, the 04’s headed into
the weekend knowing that their playoff goal had been reached but unfortunately
it may have played into how they hit the ice in Peterborough on Saturday.
A slow start had the boys down 2-0 early but they battled back to tie the contest until ultimately falling to the home town Petes 3-2. Nolan Lalonde handled the goaltending duties with Grayson Ebrahim and Wyatt Ottenhof supplying the offense with help from Andrew Botting, Boden White, Ben Campeau and Clayton Rose. Saturday’s loss clearly woke the boys up as they were back to themselves Sunday as they hosted the Central Ontario Wolves and dominated the scoreboard to the tune of 7-1 in favor of the home squad. Lane Morency lead the way with 2 goals and 2 assists while other scorers were Ben Albright, Jackson Barnes, White, Ebrahim and Ottenhof. Leading the assist parade in this one was Nathan Woods 3, Campeau 2, Ottenhof 2, Kevin Fitzgerald, Payton Clarke and Botting. Lalonde was back in net for the W with the back to back starts. The Peewees hit the road next weekend for 2 (Clarington & Oshawa) looking to lock down a hopeful third place finish and a first round match-up with the Whitby Wildcats.
